John Terry not guaranteed a place in my team, says Jose Mourinho


New Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has insisted John Terry will always remain club captain – but that doesn’t mean he will always be in the team.

Terry was marginalised at times under interim Chelsea boss Rafa Benitez last season, but Mourinho is keen to re-establish him as a key figure in the squad.

The 32-year-old has been a hugely influential figure for Chelsea in the past decade, but reports in recent months have suggested his future is far from certain.

And Mourinho, who has signed a four-year contract on his return to the London club, said selection must always come down to individual form.

‘Last time (I was manager), John was the captain by a club decision because he was born in this club, also, his personality on the pitch,’ said Mourinho.
